We're three weeks out before embarking on our most exotic trip ever.
Last fall we won at auction a 6-day/6-night safari at Zulu Nyala Game Reserve in South Africa. As usual, since we're going to go that far, we might as well make the most of it, so we added two days in Johannesburg (JoBurg), five days in Cape Town, and three days in Victoria Falls. All in all it's a 20-day extravaganza, including travel times.
We leave Denver on August 21 for London. We'll have a few hours layover there before we leave for Johannesburg.
After our time there, we'll fly to Durban where we'll be picked up and driven north to the reserve.
We'll have two safaris a day - one in the morning and one in the evening - with lots of free time and/or other excursions we can choose to take outside the reserve.
There aren't any lions on this reserve. Apparently lions need lots and lots of space. Since this reserve is smaller than other parks, they don't have lions. However, where we're staying in Victoria Falls, we'll be able to see the king of the beasts. Or we could decide to take an excursion to another reserve.
Next we'll fly to Cape Town to explore wineries, breweries, beaches, penguins, and whales. And apparently a giant toilet. J/K. That's their soccer stadium.
Finally we fly to Victoria Falls. We'll be there during the full moon and will be able to see the falls at night under the stars.
Back to Johannesburg, back to London, back to Denver. I've already started a packing list.
